Before you know it, your infant will be making her way around the house on her little hands and knees. To keep your crawler and soon-to-be walker safe from stairwells and/or confined to a baby-friendly room, you'll want to purchase a safety gate (or two or three). Evenflo's Walk-Through Gate fits 28- to 42-inch doorways and openings and comes with easy-to-mount hardware. The parent-friendly, childproof safety release latch allows you to maneuver the gate, which swings in or out, with one hand. (Gates that are pressure-mounted can be tricky to open and close with one hand, which is inconvenient when you're holding your baby with your other arm.) The wooden vertical slats discourage climbing and are spaced closely enough so that your baby can't poke her head through.
